HIT THE RESET BUTTON…
You have a major project due by Tuesday morning. It is a typical Monday, you are sitting at your desk researching, analyzing, and typing in your results into your computer. The boss has been emailing you asking for updates so they can be presented on the afternoon status call. Then, the worst possible situation occurs; your computer freezes. You can’t do anything at all. You realize that you are working in a software that does not auto-save your progress. A call to the help desk resulted in nothing. All of the long hours, nights, and weekends you have spent on this major project just sits, frozen on the screen in front of you. You wait for an hour to see if the resources release and your work resumes but it doesn’t. What do you do? Do you just give up? You know that that work is important, so you reach down and you hit the RESET button on the computer. You start over, a fresh start, but the difference now is that you know what you can do and you do it right the second time.
Life works the same way. We spend so many hours of our life in many different types of situations in which we have no control over. People get stuck in ways that aren’t on the right path. One small disruption in life can lead to larger problems, larger sins. Before long, we realize that we are so far away from where we are supposed to be that we get discouraged and feel that there is no hope. Luckily, God has provided us with a reset button as well. God gives us the ability to go before him and pray, repent and confess our sins and make things right with him. This is the most powerful reset button of all and it can be used by anyone. Non-Christians can hit the reset button with repenting, confessing, and being baptized. We are all sinners, we all need the reset button of life. We all need Christ.
1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
