Contentment is something that many of us struggle with on a daily basis. Early in my career I wanted to advance, I wanted to move up the ladder quickly;, I always wanted more and more. We see athletes on TV always wanting more money. The 104 million dollar contract is just not enough so they want 123 million or they do not report to training camp. People hold out when they don’t get what they want. Why are we not content with anything? Why do we have to have more?
Phillipians 4:11 says “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:”. Paul tells us to be content in all things in every situation. Let God take control and lead you on the right path and let us accept everything that is given to us. We can always want more and more but one thing we can learn from a lot of celebrities is that money and materials don’t buy happiness. We must know that happiness comes through God. We need to learn to make the most out of the little we receive.
So, if you are constantly struggling with unhappiness because of where you are in life, remember that God is love and with love comes happiness. Learn to love what you have and you will not need more to make your life complete. Be content.
God is Good.
