New Season

Driving down the road a few days ago, we saw a sticker on the back of a SUV that said “Do you follow Jesus this close?”. I immediately thought of actually someone riding the bumper of our car or us riding the bumper of a vehicle. A lot of thoughts went through my mind about how close do we actually follow Jesus. Do we follow him as close as we should? Do we follow him as close as we do our favorite television shows, fantasy football teams, or the car who is going extremely slow in front of us? If we are following Jesus as close as we should be, would our facebook timeline be filled with posts about the blessings God has given us that day? Instead, many of our timelines are filled with our favorite sports teams, political candidates, television shows, and much more.

During our walk with Christ, we need to make sure we are following Jesus close enough that people actually know we are Christians. Christ should be the number one priority in our life and we should leave no gap between Him and us. When we wake up in the morning, we need to thank God that he let us live another day in His world. When we arrive at work or school, do your friends or co-workers see that you are a follower of Christ? Is there a gap that exists between Christ and yourself that appears when you are not at worship? If we are walking closely with God, we will be abiding in Him, keeping His commandments, spreading the amazing news of Him. Yes, this can be a struggle in today’s world, it can be a tough task, and we all will fail at this a lot but we must continue to stick with Him. Put all of our faith in Him. Let Him take control and be our leader.

God is Good!

Colossians 2:6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
