Thomas Rhett recently released a song called “Life Changes” that topped the charts quickly in country radio. His song, which he wrote about his own life, briefly tells us how fast our life can change. Without even knowing it will change, it does. Life continues to keep on rolling even if you are on board with it or not. “You wake up, ain’t nothing the same and life changes. You can’t stop it, just hop on the train and you never know what’s going to happen, you make your plans and you hear God laughing..Life Changes”.
The chorus nails life. God’s not really laughing but He knows that we think we are in control a lot of times in our life. Everything that happens to us in our life is pushed to us from God. There is absolutely nothing that happens by accident. If we get fired? It wasn’t by accident.. If we are in a wreck.. It wasn’t an accident.. When life doesn’t go how we want it to, we quit trusting in God. We grab the wheel of life and turn it into another direction.
It took me a long time to let God drive my life. In my view of life, God was sitting in the backseat. He was guiding me but like most back seat drivers, I didn’t listen to Him. My life was changing fast, I was getting older, became a husband, then a father. Before I knew it, my kids were growing up and I was still trying to steer my life myself. Then, I realized that there is nothing I can do to change life without God being the driver. I’ve swapped seats with God.
Whether you life is going just as you want it to or it has been spiraling out of control for a while, it is time to let God drive. If you aren’t being a faithful follower of Christ, give Him the keys of your life so you can be steered back on track before your trip is over.
Life is short.. Eternity is forever.. But God is Good.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
