Camouflage Christian

One of my favorite times of the year is deer hunting season. To me, deer season has always been a time that I can get into the woods early, relax, and enjoy a few hours of complete stress-free hunting.

One of the main tools for hunting is the clothing that you wear into the woods. It is very important that you wear something that the deer do not see well and allows you to blend in with your environment. Except for the blaze orange vest and hat that we are required to wear for safety, we dress in the best, latest camouflage so we are basically invisible to the deer. In order to harvest the best, biggest game, it is important that you match your environment.

Many people take the same approach in their everyday spiritual life. When they head out to work, they blend in with their environment. At work, co-workers do not know that they are Christians because they talk and act just like everyone else in the office.

Do you think God wants us to blend in with the world? Instead of camouflaging ourselves so others can’t tell that we are Christians, we need to wear more blaze orange so that we stand out to everyone. When we walk into a room, people need to look at us and immediately tell that we are followers of Christ.

From the time Jesus was born, He stood out in the world. He never once allowed Himself to blend in with the world. Instead, He made sure that he continued to spread the Word of God everywhere He went. We are commanded to be Christ-like. We are all hunters and fishers of men but our hunting does not require us to be camouflaged.

If you have put on camouflage to fit into the world, please consider removing the barrier that prevents you from being Christ-like. Repent of your sins, let your light shine bright, and be the Godly leader that we are commanded to be. God is a forgiving God but it is you that has to be willing to repent. He will forgive you and get you back on track to spend eternity with Him.

God is Good.

Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
