How Deep Is Your Love?

“Johnny’s daddy was taking him fishin’, when he was eight years old. Little girl came through the front gate holdin’ a fishin’ pole. His dad looked down and smiled. He said, “We can’t leave her behind…..”

The majority of us know this classic country song that helped make Tim McGraw a household name back in the early 90s. It was his first number one single that led to many more to come.

The song continues…“Same old boy, same sweet girl, Five years down the road. There’s gonna be a little one and she Says it’s time to go. Doctor says the baby’s fine but you’ll have to leave, ‘Cause his momma’s fading fast and Johnny hit his knees and there he prayed. “Take the very breath you gave me. Take the heart from my chest I’ll gladly take her place if you’ll let me. Make this my last request. Take me out of this world. God, please don’t take the girl”

Most country songs tell us a story. A lot are good and a lot of them are not so good. Tim McGraw does an excellent job of painting a picture of love. This is what a representation of true love should be.
For those of us who are married. Do you love your spouse enough to take his/her spot if they were not expected to live much longer? Would you take their pain away if you could? The same with our children. Do you love your children enough to swap spots with them when they are in pain?

Who is one person you can think of that would give up their life for you? This should be easy because He already has. Could you imagine a love so strong that you would die for the world? Would you die for people who beat you, treated you horribly, and eventually killed you? Jesus did just that. He gave up His life for everyone. It was not just for his closest friends or earthly family. He did it for everyone, even those He did not meet.

For all Christ has done for us, we can never repay. What we can do is live for Him and spread His Word as commanded. Teach others about Christ and what he has done to bless your life. Let others know about the eternal destination that He is preparing for us. Point them in the direction of eternal life with Him.

It is Monday. Let’s make it a point to let someone know how God has blessed you.

If you have fallen away and need prayers, let us know. We would love to pray for you. If you have not yet got to know Christ and would like to learn more about Him, again, let us help you!

God is Good!
