It is 4 o’clock in the morning and you roll over in your bed. You realize that your alarm for 3 o’clock didn’t go off. Even worse, your plane leaves the airport at 6 A.M. and you live an hour away from the airport. You quickly get up, brush your teeth, throw on whatever clothes you can find, grab your luggage and run out the door. Speed limits are not an option for you at this time of the morning because you are already an hour later than you had planned on being.
Unfortunately for you, it is the weekend before Christmas and the airport is already extremely busy. Security takes a long time to get through. While you are waiting, you glance at the departure board and see your flight’s time. Only fifteen minutes until the plane takes off. What seems like an eternity in the line, you finally get through and begin to sprint all the way to the terminal gate where your plane is patiently waiting. As fast as you can, you run until you finally reach the gate where you are to board. You notice, the waiting area is empty and there is not a flight assistant at the gate any longer. You have missed your flight, the only flight to your destination that day.
What do you do when you are late and there are no other options for your destination?
Are you prepared for our departure on earth? When it is time for Christ to come back and take His followers with Him, will you be ready? There will not be any delays. He will not wait at the terminal gate for you to get your life right and get on His plane to the eternal destination.
Eternity is something that you need to prepare for and be ready for at any given time. There will be a day when the world comes to an end and those who waited too long will not be given another chance. We have many chances here on earth but one day we will run out. Time will be over.
What are you going to do? Are you ready? Even if you are ready, you cannot put yourself on cruise control. You have to keep going strong and follow His commands.
