Learning from Mistakes

Do you feel like you are the master of making mistakes?

Mistakes can impact whatever situation that you are in. Growing up, I played baseball and when I made mistakes they seemed to capitalize. I have seen many players make an error, then another, and then another. Professional athletes also make mistakes that can cause them to go into a slump. Golfers make a bad shot off the tee box can get frustrated and follow up with more bad shots. The anger and frustration that was experienced keep causing you to make more and more.

How do you respond to the mistakes that you make? Do you get frustrated with yourself?

Why is it that when we make one mistake, we follow up with more mistakes?

The Bible is loaded with people who have made mistakes. Starting with Adam and Eve, the mistakes never quit happening and they are still happening today.

We know that we are going to make mistakes. So the question is, how do we respond when we make those mistakes?

If we respond to our mistakes with anger, we are more likely to keep making them. Like the golfer hitting one bad shot followed up by another.

In our life, we make many mistakes. Sometimes we continue to make those mistakes and we don’t know how to quit making them. As Christians, we make mistakes that God is not happy with. We know what is right from wrong but it seems we still chose to make the mistake. We don’t respond appropriately so we keep making them.

When we have repeated sin, it is a sign of weakness. We must work really hard to overcome these types of sins.

God can help us learn how to respond to our mistakes. He is a forgiving God. We need to ask God to forgive us, help us, and guide us to overcome our mistakes. Once we get our life straight with God, we have to take steps to work hard and overcome repeating those sins. Avoid the situations at all costs. God knows if we truly are repentant.

If you are struggling with an addiction, a sin that you simply cannot get out of, or simply making mistake after mistake. There are a lot of people who can help. I have struggled with many in my life and it takes a while to straighten out. I am here to help and I know a lot of others who will help as well.

Repent, God will forgive you. Get your life back on the road to heaven.

God is Good.
