Many people in our country are facing some very difficult times. It is not their choice that they are having to deal with this but our own government’s fault.
Federal employees are having to work without paychecks. It is sad to see how so many people are struggling because of the decision to shut down the government. Many people ranging from national park employees, federal law enforcement officers, zoo employees, museum employees and more.
If you pay much attention to social media, you notice that people’s families are struggling because of the lack of a paycheck. Those who were living check to check are now having to go to banks and take loans out to cover their bills until they get their paychecks back.
It is sad to see that so many people were not prepared. They were not prepared for the unexpected to happen. Who knew that the government would shut down and they would be without a paycheck for a month?
Do you think that people not being prepared for the government shutdown is bad? Imagine what it will be like for those who are not prepared for the second coming of our Lord?
The government shutdown had a few weeks notice that it was going to shut down. People had an opportunity to work something out to get it to stay open.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:2 – For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:4 – But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.
- 2 Peter 3:10 – But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
Scripture makes it pretty clear that we are not going to have any idea when the Lord will be back.
Right now, people all over the country are worried about how they are going to make it through the next week without a paycheck but they are not worried about where they will be heading when Christ comes back. For the people who are not prepared, they will be begging for a way to get the reward even though they did not prepare and live their life for Christ.
You must prepare, you must live your life for Christ in order to receive the gift of eternal life.
