Our Country is Sin Sick

How many of you love being sick? 

I’m sure that none of you answered, ” I LOVE BEING SICK”! 

Myself, I do not like being sick at all. Ashley has the same thought and she has been fighting some sort of cold or something over the past few weeks. I believe she is at about three weeks straight of having a cough and congestion. She has not had a very fun February but she keeps on going. Each day she wakes up with the cough and goes to bed with the cough but it is much worse at night. 

She is absolutely sick and tired of the cough and ready for it to end. 

Our country is sick. Our World is sick. Sin Sick. 

The past decade, sin has been steadily on the rise. I am not speaking of people committing sin because that has always been around and will always be around. I am speaking of our country legalizing sin. 

What sin you may ask? That is an easy question to answer. 

Homosexuality… It is a sin. Shocker huh? Not really. If you actually read the Bible, it is laid out pretty clearly. The United States has legalized it so it must be okay then. Well, not really. God’s law overrides the laws of the land. A few passages for you to research… (Leviticus 18:22, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Homosexuality is a lifestyle that is not approved by Christ. 

Murder… Yep, I brought it up. You say, how has murder been legalized in the United States? It is easy, abortion. Abortion is murder. There is no way around it. There is no difference at all in killing a baby in the mother’s womb than killing a little baby that is a week old. No.Difference.At.All. It is the same. Murder. (Exod. 20:13; Deut. 5:17, 1 Cor 6:9-10). 

Drinking… I’m sorry to touch this subject but it is a sin. For some of us, it has taken years to realize that it is actually a sin. Nothing good at all comes from drinking whether social drinking or it as an addiction. Drunkardness is a sin that can cause you to lose your eternal destination. (1 Cor 6:9-1o). Pornography/Strip Clubs… One of the fastest growing industries in the world. The pornography industry is taking over and ruining marriages and morals of men and women everywhere. With technology, access to pornography is at our fingertips. It is just a google search away. One simple google search away from corruption within your marriage. One click away from risking your eternal destination. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 is referenced a lot but it lays out the sins we are dealing with. 

Gambling… The Bible does not quote that gambling is a sin verbatim but it does mention it as a sin in other words. What is gambling? Winning money from the losses of others. What do I mean? So, the lottery is played by millions. Millions of people losing their money because not everyone wins. Usually, there is only one winner therefor that winner wins from the loses of others. How is this wrong? Romans 13:9 tell us that we shall not covet. Gambling also leads to the love of money, which is a sin (1 Tim 6:9). 

I think you are getting the point. Our country is sin sick. We are at a point where we know that it cannot heal itself. Like Ashley’s cough earlier, sometimes you need to just take some medicine or go to a doctor and get help. Our country needs the ultimate healer. Our country needs to bring God back into every situation. God is the only one that has the power to move our country into a new direction. He can do it through us. We must stand up and fight this sickness. 

For those who are stuck in this sin sickness, the best thing about it is that you can get forgiveness and start your life over with Christ. Get back with Christ, repent and start living a life with Him. For those who aren’t Christians, you can become a member of God’s family as well. We would love to have you join our family of believers. 

God is Good.
