Spiritual Maintenance

A few days ago, the service engine light came on in our Suburban. The first thought that came into my mind was that we are going to have a major issue and will cost a lot to get it fixed. No one likes spending money on vehicle issues. We took it down to a parts store to get the code read so we would know how much we would have to spend on the part and if we would need to take it into an engine shop to get it fixed.  Luckily, I don’t mind trying to knock out tasks like this myself and the only issue was an oil pressure sensor.

Our vehicles need to have maintenance done on them every few thousand miles. Fluids have to be changed, filters need to be changed, and tires need to be rotated and balanced to ensure the vehicle will last as long as possible. If we fail to do these basic tasks, our cars may begin to run very rough and could eventually die.

Our walk with Christ requires maintenance as well. We live in a world that is filled with sin and sometimes we can catch on to bad habits that cause our faith in Christ to dwindle. Sometimes things would cause us to not have as much joy, love, and happiness that God has commanded us to have. When we run in a sluggish state, we do not have the will power to spread His word. We become inefficient in Christ.

When we are overcome by the world, we have to get our Christian life serviced. Like our cars, when our walk with Christ is refreshed, we run better for a longer period of time.

It is easy to take our car to the shop to get serviced but it can be very difficult to have our Christian life serviced. People do not want to admit that they are running on fumes, therefore, they may never get the help they need. In this case, they may break down and never run right with Christ again.

If you are one of these, I encourage you to take the leap and get back with Christ. Repent of the sins that cause you to run poorly. It will be the best decision that you have ever made.

We can keep our spiritual walk running smoothly by staying active in church, be involved, and spread God’s Word. Doing this will help keep you constantly maintained and you will not have to have emergency fixes done in your walk with Christ.

If you need help, let us help you. We will pray with you and for you. We would also love to have you part of our family and walk the walk with us.

God is Good.
