Oh… The Pain…

Gout…

Certain times of the year, I have a flare up of gout. It is not fun at all. For those of you who are not familiar with gout, the definition is a disease in which defective metabolism of uric acid causes arthritis, especially in the smaller bones of the feet, deposition of chalkstones, and episodes of acute pain. So, in easy words, the uric acid builds up around the bones in my big toe and causes severe pain. The pain is so bad that I cannot put weight or anything on it. At night, the covers in the bed cannot touch it at all or the pain shoots through my foot into my leg. It is honestly the worst pain I have ever had and unfortunately I deal with it a couple of times a year.

As I sat in the recliner last night in pain, doing our devotional with the family, I was thinking of Jesus on the cross. The pain and humiliation that He went through. The pain that I have is no comparison to that Jesus had when He was on the cross.

We don’t really think of the pain the Jesus endured on the cross very much except when we are taking the Lord’s Supper on Sundays. Do we love someone enough that we would do the same as Jesus did? Would you suffer for someone? The suffering on the Cross shows the unconditional love that Jesus had. God loved all of us so much that He sent His son to die for us.

For you…

For me…

What have we don’t to show our love for God lately?

God is Good..
