Buffets

How many of you love going to buffets?

When you walk in the door of a restaurant with a buffet the first thing that you see is tons of food. Most buffets have whatever type of food you want from American to Chinese and then dozens of deserts. You have the freedom to pick whatever type of food you want to. You stroll through the line and load your plate up and sit down to eat. After you get done with that plate, because you have the freedom to choose, you get up and go get a second plate of food. Most of the time, on this trip, you will get a lot of different food from the first trip. You do this because you like the freedom to pick and choose what you want to eat at that moment.

Many people treat their spiritual life as a buffet. They open their Bibles, read and study it, and then start deciding on what they want to follow that best fits their lifestyle. One day they will believe that it is wrong to do one thing but then when they are with another crowd, they convince themselves that it is okay to do it. They pick and choose the commands of the Bible that they want to follow.

What is sad is that there is not any picking and choosing. The Bible doesn’t change. The commands are the commands and that is the bottom line. You don’t get the choice to decide if it is okay or not.

You have just found out that your child is living the homosexual lifestyle. Before their ‘coming out of the closet’, you had always preached to them that it was wrong. Now, since they are choosing to live that lifestyle, you have convinced yourself that it is not wrong to be that way. Well, unfortunately, we do not get to pick and choose if that sin is now okay with God. The law has not changed and there are multiple examples of the law and ramifications in the Bible. Homosexuality is a sin (Genesis 18:20-21, Genesis 19:4-5, 2 Peter 2:6, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:26-27. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Jude 6-7, Romans 1:18).

If God would have wanted a law to change, He would have given it an expiration date in scripture. But, He didn’t. The laws remain unchanged and we must follow them.

Do you like to pick and choose what you believe is right or wrong? Whether it be lying, pornography, drinking alcohol, drugs, or any other type of law that the world has deemed okay, do you participate in it? It is time to stop letting the world decide your righteousness and follow the Bible to lead you to eternal life.

God is a forgiving God so if you are needing to leave the lifestyle you are in, He will wipe your slate clean. It is up to you. You have to make the choice on how you want your judgement day to be. Joyful or Painful.
