Take a moment and think of the most amazing sermon you have ever heard. Think of the location you were at during this sermon. Reflect back on the person who distributed that sermon. Remember the words that came from his mouth as he presented the sermon that you loved.
Although this may have been the best sermon you have ever heard, do you know that it will not get you to heaven? You can attend dozens of biblical events each year but that is not what will get you to heaven. You can be a student of the most biblically sound preacher in the world, but he will not get you to heaven.
People put events, men, and sometimes even women up on pedestals because they believe they are amazing but even those people that are elevated above others will not get you to heaven.
Let’s take a quick glance at how you can get to heaven. Jesus lays out it pretty clear in John 14:6. This well known and often quoted scripture tells us that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.
Jesus is not only the way; He is the ONLY way to God.
Don’t quote me as saying that attending scriptural events and listening to biblically sound preachers is not a good idea because I wholeheartedly believe that we should place ourselves in those type of environments as much as we can. But, I often times see people placing events and speakers at the very top and sometimes they make them out to be equals to Christ.
We need to take what we hear as words directly for Christ, not directly from one person. The scriptures are inspired by God. Jesus came to earth to live and die for our sins so we can have eternal life through Him!
One thing we are blessed with is the ability to have a family of believers that can help guide us in the right direction of heaven. We also have the ability ourselves to be a light to others to help direct their path to the path that will lead to Christ. We can take God’s word, present it to them and hope that they will find Jesus and follow him so they can have eternal life with Him.
Jesus is the way.
