We all know the story of Noah’s ark. That is probably one of the first Bible stories that we heard as a child and we continue to hear today.
Last night, I was listening to a sermon on YouTube from a well-known evangelist. During his sermon, he started talking about the flood and how God chose Noah…only Noah and his family…to start over the entire human race. God picked Noah…
One aspect of the flood that I never have thought about was what it may have looked like looking out at the waters when the flood was in full swing. What did Noah think when he walked out onto the deck of the ark and see hundreds or even thousands of bodies floating. Bodies of animals and the bodies of humans. Men, women, and kids floating in the flood waters because they were not following Christ as they should have been.
Would you be a candidate for the position Noah had? Would you be the one that God would choose to start over the world today? If God said he needed one person and their family to restart humanity, would he look down at you?
Or would you be one of the thousands (and in our world today, billions) of people that will be floating in the waters?
If God was to look down at earth today, would he consider you?
That is a tough question to grasp because we are all sinners. Everyone was a sinner then and Noah was a sinner as well but God still chose him.
Honestly, there are many people on the list that would be above me. They would be a better candidate to take Noah’s spot if there was to be a flood today. We know that Jesus came to earth to die on the cross for our sins. That did not mean we had to stop following out God’s commands. We have the ability to be forgiven of our sins and we have the opportunity to spend eternity with God.
We may not be the God picks to start a new world but we can still be with Him in heaven one day. Follow Christ, follow His commands, live a faithful life with Him, and there is a very good chance that you will be sitting with Him when Jesus comes back to take us.
God is good…
