Coming out…
That has been a very popular phrase over the past decade or two. When I was growing up, we never really heard the term “Coming Out” much. I can remember one of the first times I heard someone say, “SoandSo came out of the closet”. My first thought was, why in the world were they in the closet?! How stupid to just be hanging out in the closet.
The years went by and people said it more and more. Throughout school, it was uncommon for me to know someone personally that was ‘attracted’ to the same sex. There were always the rumors that people spread about others being gay but no one ever really knew for sure. It wasn’t until years later that some of those “came out of the closet”.
Fast forward to this day in age. People are proudly ‘coming out’. I overheard a conversation at my workplace a while back that involved someone planning a ‘Coming Out’ party. I had never heard of that and apparently it is something that happens often nowadays.
So…
It is time that we all come out of the closet.
Over the past dozen or so years, Christians have been slowly pushed into the closet. It is the same closet that the homosexuals were staying in when they were afraid to reveal who they really were (or thought they were). At one time, our country followed more closely to Biblical standards but now they don’t. Now, the world has defined its own standards and Biblical standards have become a joke to our nation. Christians are afraid to stand up for what we know is right. Christians have begun to coward down to those who are working so hard to push their own sinful agenda.
What is even sadder is that even churches have fallen away from true scriptural beliefs and commands. Non-denomination churches are being formed to cater to those who live alternative lifestyles. Instead of teaching what scripture says, they are omitting the true meanings from their doctrine.
What are we supposed to do?
It is time that Christians come out of the closet.
It is time that we re-open that door and stand up for what we believe. Why are we so afraid of what our neighbor will think about our beliefs? Why are we so afraid of what our co-workers will think of what we believe? Why are Christians becoming more and more afraid?
We are falling to the schemes of the devil. We are commanded to stand firm (Ephesians 6:11, 1 Corinthians 16:13), stand our ground (Ephesians 6:13), be immovable in our faith (1 Corinthians 15:58), and conduct ourselves in a Christlike manner (Philippians 1:27).
I pray that we as Christians will stand up for Christ. Speak out, in a lovingly way, and try to help others understand the importance of following Christ.
If you are living an alternative lifestyle and happen to read this article, please know that we love you. We sincerely love you and want you to be happy. We want you to be our neighbor in heaven and because of that, we will pray for you. Pray for your hear to see Christ and follow the commands He has specifically laid out for everyone. You can change your life, repent, and come to Christ so you can be our neighbor for eternity.
God is good…
