This morning, I am heading to play in a golf tournament hosted by Columbia Academy. We have a great group of guys that I will be playing with. They are much better than me but I am hoping that I will be able to contribute to the team as much as I can.
The best part of a 4-man scramble is that we each have the ability to help each other out. Every shot, we will have four opportunities to make an amazing golf shot. If the first messes up, the next ones can learn from the mistake and follow. Another great thing is that each of us specializes in our own ways. Some may be able to putt really well while others can drive the ball really far. Having the right talents on the team can help win.
What about our spiritual life? Shouldn’t we look at it the same way as we would our golf scramble team? We are all in this together and we all need to be an encouragement to each other to get to Heaven. There are some people who are great at preaching and teaching while others are better at small group discussions and Bible studies. Some love door knocking and spreading God’s word that way while others are better at showing God’s love through social media or blogs.
Whatever your talent is, it is important that we surround ourselves with great team members to help us maintain our drive to get to Heaven. We all can help each other in all situations. The only difference between our golf team and our spiritual team is that with golf we get 4 shots to do right. Our spiritual life, we only have one shot to make it to heaven. There will be no mulligans or re-dos.
