Off the wagon…

We’ve all heard the term, ‘off the wagon’.

Well, over the past month, Ashley and I have been trying to get healthier. We have been eating great and in moderation and have been slowly losing weight. So, last night, we were both overcome with emotion and stress. There are things in our life that really have taken a toll on us emotionally. People deal with things in different ways and sometimes those ways are not always the best choices. For us, we did not fall back to sinful acts but we did breakdown some and decided to ‘fall off the wagon’ of health. It was a way of trying to comfort our minds. Popcorn, M&Ms, Doritos, Lays Chips, and Pepsi at 10PM was part of the breakdown for us. We fell back on foods that we have been trying to avoid for so long just for, what we thought, would be a moment of peace in our minds.

People fall off the wagon in a variety of ways. Alcoholism, pornography, drugs, and even something as simple as eating can be part of it. Although they are all very different, the reason can be very much the same. Instant gratification because of emotional or even spiritual struggles.

Why is it so hard to just turn to God when we need Him the most? Why can’t we just go to prayer when we need God to help us get through something tough?

We all have to continue to do the things that keep us strong spiritually.

If you are struggling with anything, go to God first. Surround yourselves with other members of the Lord’s family to help comfort you and encourage you to keep on the narrow path. If you do happen to fall off the wagon, turn to Christ immediately and repent and get back on track. God will forgive you and help you.

Please keep those who you know are struggling in your prayers.

God is Good…
