The Right Tool

This morning, Ady Kate was getting ready for school and she had an issue with one of the skirts that she was wearing. With some of her skirts, they have those little elastic bands that you can tighten up if the waist is too big. If you do have a little girl with these type of skirts (or even some boy shorts have them as well), you know how hard it can be to feed that elastic strap through the holes all the way around the waistband of the skirt. It can be annoying!

So, after a few minutes of trying to do this without any tool, I finally remember how I had done it in the past. I grabbed a metal hanger, straightened it out, and then I tied the elastic to it and pushed it through the waistband of the skirt. Within 30 seconds I was already done and Ady could then finish getting ready for school.

Are there other times in your life where you have tried to do something and failed, then you grabbed the right tool for the job and you completed it with success?

When we go out into the world and try to spread the Word of God, we need to make sure that we have the right tools with us. What good will we be if we try to teach someone about God and we do not have any resources to help them learn. The best tool to teach about Him is the Bible.

How well do you know your tools?

When I do woodworking, I know which tool I need to complete the job and I know exactly how to use it.

With the Bible, I am guilty that I do not know it as deep as I should but I am trying to learn. Along with the Bible, I have tools that help me understand more. These tools are the ministers that I listen to, Biblically-sound commentaries, and our church friends. I need to know my number one resource, the Bible, well enough to be able to help teach someone else about Him.

I encourage you today to start digging deeper into the Word. There are many resources that can help you. I can help point you in the right direction if you need.

God is Good…
