Shadows

A few years ago, Jayden and I were out walking. I can’t remember the exact location but we were outside and it was a beautiful sunny day. We were enjoying just being outside and having a good time. Jayden asked me, “Daddy, why do we have a shadow?”.

Kids ask a lot of crazy questions but this one I found was interesting. I went on to explain that when the sun hits us from a certain angle, it can’t show light on the opposite side of us. He understood and didn’t say much else about it.

A few minutes later, I turned to Jayden and asked Jayden if he knew who made those shadows. I then explained to him that God made the shadows by allowing the sun to shine. Shadows are also produced by lights that God gave the man the ability to make.

I said, “You see Jayden, God made shadows that are always with us. No matter where we are, there is always a shadow that He has given us. He has given us this shadow that way we are never alone.”

God is with us all of the time no matter where we are or what we are doing. Wherever there is light, we have the shadow that casts down around us.

As Christians, the way we act and present ourselves around others works the same way. We are told to let our light shine (Matthew 5). People will see our good works and know that God is present in our life. If we let our light shine, we will cast a glorious shadow among all others who are around us that will show God’s love in our life.

If we don’t let our light shine, we will be stuck in the dark without anyone around to comfort us. It will be hard to tell what direction we are heading.

The sun shines and lights beam down on us casting a shadow. This shadow reminds us that we are not alone. Cast your Christian shadow upon others so they know that they are not alone as well.

If you are lost and cannot find your way, we have a family that can help relight your light so your shadow will cast abundantly among all others. Let us help you. We will pray for you and with you. Simply reach out and let us.

God is Good
