It has been a few years since I have worked inside of a hospital. During my years working at a facility, I saw many things that people don’t see often and a lot of times don’t want to see. Emergency rooms always were interesting to work inside of because you experienced things that made you either feel good about yourself or have the total opposite feelings. People come into the emergency rooms and leave feeling great again while others do not every make it out of their rooms. They go on to another life beyond our life here on earth.
When you see people come into an emergency room and eventually pass away, it leads you (or at least it does me) to think about what their life was like. Some come in alone with no family while others are surrounded by family at the time of their passing.
My dad also worked at a hospital in Jackson, TN for many years. He is still in healthcare until this day and loves being in places that he can help others. I remember when I was working in Dyersburg and he was in Jackson, he called me one day and said he was heading to Tractor Supply to get a horse trough. They were getting this because there was a man who had been studying the Bible that was near death. The man let the doctor know that he was not baptized. He lived a life in sin but after studying the scriptures knew that he was lacking a key piece to his eternal salvation. The doctor called my dad and immediately they rushed to make this man’s wish come true. They purchased the horse trough, filled it with water, and together lowered the man into the trough. The man was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for the remission of his sins.
We were told that that man left the earth not long after that. From what I can recall, there was not many people around him at the time of his departure from this world. One thing that we know is that if he was alone here on earth, he was no longer alone in Heaven.
Many live their lives in ways that are not scriptural. We always think that we can wait until the last minute and get forgiveness and be good to go before we pass away. Some people have done that and if it is God’s will, they join Him in the afterlife. Others have waited and then their life is tragically ended. Only God know’s their eternal destination but for me, I don’t want to take the chance of it not being where I want it to be.
It is never too late. If you are older and think that it is too late for you to follow Christ, you are completely wrong. You may even know someone who is like the old man above who is laying in a hospital and has never obeyed the gospel. You can make a difference. You can help save the man’s (or woman’s) soul. It is never too late while you are still alive. It is only too late if the time on earth expires and nothing has been done to guarantee your salvation.
If you are struggling with sin, please let a brother or sister in Christ help you. Message me, text me, call me or whatever you can do and I will do what I can to help. If you are in Alaska, I can get you in touch with someone there to help. God’s family is worldwide. We would love to have you a part of it.
God is Good!
