Faith

Would Jesus be amazed at our faith?

Many of us Christians attend worship, attend events outside of worship, and even invite people to services. Do these small acts amaze Jesus?

Jesus had arrived back at the town of Capernaum when he was approached by representatives of a centurion. A centurion was a Roman soldier with the ranking of a captain. Often times when people with high, non-civilian, rankings approach others they can tend to have a type of dominant presence over the other. This was not the case for the centurion. This soldier knew who Jesus was and respected the authority that Jesus had.

If you notice, the centurion himself did not directly speak to Jesus. The centurion did not believe he was worthy enough to be in the presences of Jesus.

The centurion had one request from Jesus that he knew that Jesus could easily help with. He wanted Jesus to heal his slave. This was an odd request for this time because the Romans had the legal ability to kill their slaves if they become sick or ill. It was actually expected. Instead of killing the slave, the centurion had a connection with this man and wanted to save him.

Luke 7:6-8, the centurion knows that Jesus is on the way and still insists that he is not worthy enough for Jesus to come to his house.

Jesus healed the servant but he marveled at the faith of the centurion. For a man with the ranking that the centurion had to submit himself to Jesus, amazed Jesus.

Back to our original question…

Do we have faith like the centurion? Would Jesus be amazed at our faith?

Submitting ourselves to Christ shows the faith we have in Him. When we go out into the world, we should let our light shine bright so others can see what God has done for us. Then, when we are faced with trials that knock us down on our back, over and over again; we need to approach God just as the centurion did Jesus. Throw ourselves down at the feet of our Lord and let Him help us.

If we are honest with each other, we are not worthy to be in the presence of God. He loves us enough to always be side by side with us, guiding us, and helping us get through difficult times. He walks beside us each day. It is up to us to put our arm around Him and say, “God, I need your help. You’ve been walking beside me for my whole life and now I realize that I need You.”.

Put all of our faith in Him so He will marvel at our faith. Everything we do and whatever happens to us, put our faith in Him.

God is Good…
