I know that I need to take my child to Bible class but it’s just that she’s only a baby and she won’t get anything out of it anyways.
I know that I need to take my child to the kid’s event at church tonight but it is Friday night and it has been a long week and I just want to relax.
It’s Wednesday and I know that church is tonight but work has been tough already and I need to stay late and get more work done.
I know that I need to go visit a couple of sick people but it has been a long day and they are sick and I don’t want to risk getting sick myself.
It is Sunday and I know that church is important but it is the most important baseball tournament of the year today and I do not want my son to miss the opportunity to play in it.
I know that I need to put more money into the contribution but Titans tickets go up for sale this weekend and I need to save my money for those.
I would love to study the Bible with people but I’m afraid they will ask me questions that I do not know.
Do any of these excuses sound like you? Do they sound like excuses that you hear others say?
It is your day to leave the earth and go to your eternal destination. You reach the pearly gates of Heaven and you hear, “I know that you really want to come into Heaven but for years you have placed the world before Me. You have chosen baseball and football games over me and you have taught your children by missing worship that My commandments do not matter and for those reasons I will not be able to let you spend eternity with Me.”
How would that make you feel if God said those words to you? It would be devastating right? But, don’t you think that He feels devastated each time that you choose worldly activities over opportunities to grow closer to Him and your spiritual family members?
Luke 13:27 But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’
By putting Christ second, third, or even last in your life can only damage your chances of being able to know Him. If you don’t make the effort that we are commanded to make to spread His word and bring others to Christ then why would you expect Him to make the effort to build a mansion for you with Him in Heaven?
It is time that the excuses get put aside and put Christ at the top of your priority list. If you are one that has placed the world first and some of the excuses mentioned earlier are ones that you have actually used, God is waiting on you to repent and get your life right with Him again.
One day you will not wake up and making excuses will come to an end, where will you be spending eternity?
God is Good…
