Wooden Chair
We love going to yard sales. Growing up in West Tennessee, going to yard sales was a weekly event. Since moving to Middle Tennessee, we have continued doing this but do not do it as often. The best thing about going to yard sales is that you never know what you may find. Some mornings you may not find anything whereas others you may find a lot of different things. The kids love trying to find toys that they must have at that exact moment. Sometimes we come out pretty good.
This past weekend we went to a yard sale and came across an old blue chair. The chair was just sitting in a driveway with a one dollar sign on it. Ashley immediately wanted the chair but the lady informed us that it was broken and would need repaired. We left that yard sale with that old blue chair so we could give it a second chance. I came home and replaced some boards, stabilized it, threw a few screws here and there and the chair now sits in our living room, fully restored and functioning.
As Christians, we need repaired often. We can be weak, unstable, and non-functional in our walk with Christ. The bad part is the longer we go without getting fixed, the harder it can be to get us back on the right path. God is amazing and can do so much. Luckily for us, God is the ultimate carpenter. No matter how broken we are right now in our life or how long we have been broke, He can fix us without hesitation. It is up to us to let Him know that we need repaired. Since He allows us freedom of choice, He will not force us to come to His repair shop. We must do it on our own. He will fix us.
