Yesterday, Ady Kate had the opportunity to attend one of her friends birthday party in Centerville. While she was at the party, Ashley, the boys, and I went and had our selves a little brother time with them. It is nice to be able to spend time with each separately on different occasions.
When we were picking Ady up, I received a text from a friend that I have not seen in about nine years. We were just a few miles from his house and he had invited us to swing by while we were in the area. So, we accepted the invitation and drove on over to his house. This is one of my best friends that, for about four years, we spent many days together. We had the same major, took the same classes, played the same intermural sports together, and hung out together. It had been nine years since we had face to face conversation. It was great to be able to spend a short amount of time just talking, letting the kids meet him, and also meeting his wife! It will not be nine more years before we do this again.
There is also a friend that many of us seem to forget about at times. Maybe we don’t forget about Him but we forget that He is always there for us. There are a lot of people who need to take time to catch up with this old friend. I went through a time where I had forgotten to make this relationship a priority in my life. For many years, I hardly even spoke to Him. I had turned my back to the relationship with Christ and put many other things first.
Are you the same way? When was the last time that you spent time with God?
Is it time for you to spend time catching up with Him like you would an old friend that you haven’t see in many years?
If you are one who has been away from God and needs to get back in touch with Him, the time to do that is now. God is always waiting for you to simply reach out to Him and talk to Him. It is up to you to rekindle your relationship with Him before it is too late. One day, our life on earth will be over and if you fail to revamp your relationship with Him, you may risk your eternity in heaven with Him.
Today is Sunday. There are thousands of church families meeting this morning to spend time in worship. Many people will respond to the invitation to reconnect their friendship with Christ. Will you be one of them?
God is Good…
